The Enduring Power of Jewelry

Saturday, June 25, 2016 2:41:22 PM America/Chicago

turquoise earringssilver ring

Wondering what THE trend of the summer is going to be? The answer is here and it is Native American inspired jewelry. With vibrant splashes of turquoise and the irresistible gleam of diamonds as well as stunning silver, designers this season are creating one of a kind pieces. They are truly a must have! This Native American theme helps breathe life back into a culture and art that has faded into the back round. Designers are paying homage to the tradition and beauty of Native American style. It is a true mix of past and present and the results are beautiful! For example, designer Pamela Love draws her inspiration from Native American motifs. Her jewelry is riddled with snakes, feathers, and arrows. These are very traditional Native American themes, but she has put her own modern twist on them to make her pieces wearable to the modern day man or woman. These pieces will spark envy in all of your friends! The jewelry is a mix of antique and contemporary, old and new coming together as one. These Southwest/Native American inspired pieces are perfect for a pop of color against a dark wardrobe or to provide classic silver but with a unique twist! Statement pieces like these are essential for any wardrobe. So, go out and get a hand on these timeless pieces because they are flying off the shelves!!

Choosing Your Sparkle Wisely

Nothing shows off your personal style and flare better than your choice of accessories! And with all of the women's fashions available to us today, it's a no brainer that we need a little insight and WISDOM on just which accessories to pair with certain necklines. Gabriel & Company has a wonderful selection of the perfect necklaces to pair with WHATEVER you are wearing. Let's read on for some designer tips!

1. Strapless:  There are several options and each can be incredibly eye-catching! Set a single solitaire pendant on a thin chain to lie right in the dimple of your clavicle. You can also choose a brilliant and bold statement necklace. All diamonds have incredible impact, especially when the dress is monochromatic. Multi-colored stones look impressive against a black gown as well. Or choose a delicately crafted choker that is either centered on one large centerpiece stone, or highlights intricate artisanry and small set stones.

Item Shown Above: NK5360W84JJ

2. Turtlenecks: Because turtlenecks represent a more causal style and tend to be bulkier than the other options, choose necklaces that are lightweight, not too grand and move freely. A pendant on a long chain, or layered with another one elongates the body as the sweater does and won’t get tangled in the weave. Another tip: Remember remove your necklaces BEFORE you take off the sweater!

Item Shown Above: NK5383W84OX

3. Halter Necks: Most effective when worn with a long pendant on a dense but not wide link that sports a sparkling drop that is shaped in such a way as to point, however, obviously, to your cleavage!!

Items Shown Above: NK5214W45JJ & NK5216W45JJ

4. Boat Neck: To contrast the horizontal neckline, pick two long vertical lengths, one that ends with a specific pendant or drop, and the other that frames the drop with a longer, more graceful curve!

Items Shown Above: NK5457SVJKD & NK5345W45JJ

5. Off the Shoulder: You could wear a choker similar to one described under “strapless’ but the strongest look for this sensual neckline is ropes and ropes of gold and silver, of varied widths and lengths as many as you can handle. Just note: This can be dangerous if the evening includes a night of dancing!

6. Crew or Jewel: So-called because it reflects the same circumference as a classic strand of pearls. But don’t limit yourself!!! It’s a smart backdrop for a metal link chain or to loosely layer a combination of chain and bejeweled ropes for a fresh, informal take on glamour! Be creative!

Items Shown Above: NK5327W45JJ & NK5222W45JJ

7. Button Down Shirt: By the nature of the blouse’s silhouette, necklace placement is both understated and partially hidden. Consequently, it’s best to choose one of uniform design and detail (same sized stone or link all around) long enough to drop below the clavicle but short enough to display the bottom curve before the highest closed shirt button.

Item Shown Above: NK5461SVJKD

The options are endless, which means your creativity can be limitless! Have fun pairing your PERFECT accessories and sparkles with your outfits!!! Visit our entire Gabriel collection here in our showroom and ask one of our friendly Sales Associates to help you mix and match and come up with the perfect look for YOU!

A Softer Take on Color

Monday, March 14, 2016 1:05:52 PM America/Chicago

Rose Quartz and Serenity are Pantone Colors of the Year for 2016

Calming and subtly romantic, Rose Quartz and Serenity are chosen as the Pantone Colors of the Year. Pantone described the colors as “a harmonious pairing of inviting shades that embody a mindset of tranquility and inner peace.” These colors were chosen based off of a balance between the warmth of  rose quartz and the cool serenity of a tranquil blue.

Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation. The two shades stand incredibly on their own, but also pair up to evoke a feeling of tranquility and inner peace.

Find your tranquil inspiration today! Shop for your own Rose Quartz and Serenity colors at Sandberg Jewelers.

Layers Upon Layers...of JEWELRY!

Thursday, October 22, 2015 5:29:54 PM America/Chicago

Every style guru knows jewelry can make or break an outfit! With all the fads and trends out there, all the bling and sparkle, have you ever wondered what the best way to layer your jewelry is or how to strike that "just right" spot? Well, we have...and we are sure you have as well!!! So, here goes a little 1-2-3 guide on on layering your jewelry! Sit down, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and take in all our awesome advice! Ready...and GO!

1. Create some space: For necklaces, make sure you have different lengths. So, maybe start with a 16-inch necklace that sits high on the neckline and go down a few inches for every layer. This will create a dynamic look, but it also a practical way to layer - they won't get tangled! Who is an advocate of practical AND pretty?! We definitely are!

2. Keep like with like: For the wrist, we love wearing either three big cuffs on a single wrist or a stack of bangles that really pack a punch! Also, keep in mind similar shapes and pair those together as well! Throw some bracelets on your arm alongside your watch, too! Stacking is fun! So, have FUN with it!

3. Do as  Y O U  please! Wear whatever makes YOU happy and defines your own personal style! This is how come we all look different, because we ARE all different! Same goes with our jewelry! You are not made out of a cookie cutter, and your jewelry is not either! Above are just a couple general tips, but YOU fill in the gaps with your own unique style! Sparkle and shine just by being YOU...wearing YOUR jewelry how YOU want to!

From Turkey To Our Showroom... Kurtulan

Tuesday, August 11, 2015 4:58:40 PM America/Chicago

Gaining inspiration from nature and ancient civilizations and keeping with the atmosphere of Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world, Ismet Naci Kurtulan and Meltem Kurtulan create jewelry that blends art, culture, and tradition. They have been in the jewelry business since 1993 and exclusively wholesale since 2000. These talented designers know how to perfectly combine silver with 24 karat gold creating exquisite and unique designs. The benefit of using these metals in the design is allowing the beauty of pure gold to be prominent with the silver additions helping to keep the cost down. Some designs incorporate natural diamonds and gemstones as well. One particular item of jewelry by these designers are their coins. All the coins are genuine and are different ages. Some of the bronze coins are 1,000 years old. There are many different methods of manufacturing – welding, forging, casting, stamping, carving, and wax carving, but the majority of items are hand worked. Each creation is numbered and comes with a beautiful certificate and box making this a very special gift.

Hearts on Fire

Saturday, July 18, 2015 9:08:43 AM America/Chicago

Hearts on Fire…

Founded in 1996 by Glenn and Susan Rothman in Boston, Hearts on Fire became the world's first branded diamond, the only diamond in the entire world whose diamond is deemed perfectly cut every single time.

About the Designer:

Ilaria Lanzoni, the Hearts On Fire Director of Design, lived in S.Daniele del Friuli, a very small town in the Northeast of Italy that is about 1.5 hours from Venice for the first 18 years of her life. From there, she moved to Rome to study jewelry design for several years before also spending time in both Florence and Turinhas. Before joining the Hearts On Fire team, Ilaria was the Senior Designer for Garrads Fine Jewelry in London, England where she worked closely with Stephen Webster on a wide variety of design projects. Prior to Garrads, Ilaria designed for Asprey Fine Jewelry in London and helped launch a multitude of their collections.

In 2012, Ilaria quickly established two hit collections in her first year with Hearts on Fire – Copley and Illa – both of which have distinctive inspiration. The Copley Collection was created from Ilaria’s experiences during her first weeks as a new Boston resident, where she was enthralled by the city’s unique architecture and ironwork. The Illa Collection, named after Ilaria herself, was inspired from her love of the nighttime sky in Italy as a young child, and features beautiful constellation and star themed designs.

In 2013, Ilaria added two additional collections - Atlantico and Lorelei - which continue to integrate modern design elements into the brand. Both of these collections extend Hearts on Fire’s desire to marry diamonds with current fashion trends, including bold yellow and rose gold metals, as well as provide women with the aspiration to layer different Hearts on Fire necklaces, bracelets and more across the various collections.

In 2014, Ilaria added a fifth designer collection to Hearts on Fire - the Aerial Collection. This beautiful collection reflects elements of nature that originate from or live in the air – including snowflakes, butterflies, suns, raindrop and more. This collection also uniquely uses optical illusions – taking only Hearts on Fire round diamonds to create the illusions of other diamond shapes, such as marquise and pear shapes.

Hearts on Fire Method and Manufacturing:

Diamond cutting by hand…starting with a selection of less than one tenth of one percent of the world’s rough diamonds. We then entrust them to less than 400 master craftsmen in the world who use a diamond cutting formula that is unknown to any other diamond brand in the world. And we cut and polish at 100x magnification – 10x the industry standard – to ensure our sparkling perfection each and every time.

Advantages and Perks to choosing Hearts on Fire:

Free Engraving (inside of the ring):  For those who want to add a little something extra to their diamond engagement ring, we offer complimentary engraving for any orders. Depending on the design style of the engagement ring, we will work with you to determine the best location possible on the ring to engrave, and are able to engrave up to 25 characters.

If you do decide to engrave your engagement ring, please note that it will not be eligible for return.

Lifetime Trade-Up on Serialized Diamonds and Studs:  Any Hearts on Fire serialized diamond engagement ring or pair of diamond stud earrings that were purchased are eligible for trade-in toward the purchase of another Hearts on Fire serialized engagement ring or pair of stud earrings by the original purchaser.  And the best part? With our trade in policy, we need no evaluation of the current state of your jewelry before agreeing to the trade in. No questions asked, you will receive full credit for your original purchase (excluding tax).

In addition, for diamond engagement rings, we ask that all documentation (Diamond Identity Document and AGS certificate – if applicable) please accompany the original ring during trade in, if possible.

A Diamond Identity Document comes with all serialized HOF diamonds starting at .2ct, Dream Diamonds at .3ct

Rooted in Architecture, Resulting in Beauty… Doves

Friday, July 10, 2015 2:25:35 PM America/Chicago

Doves, the brand... Originating from New York City, designed by Doron Hakimian… A unique designer with a specific goal of making all women feel beautiful when wearing his pieces. He was raised in a family of precious gemstone manufacturers, yet decided to pursue his degree in architecture, which comes to be a foundational piece in the uniqueness of this elegant brand. Upon winning the American Institute of Architects Design award, he decided to “build jewelry” instead of buildings. He has shown his marvelous gift of drawing with his architect eye to create a wonderfully beautiful product in his jewelry pieces. Being inspired by architecture and how space and shapes work together, he has crafted pieces that are visually captivating and have a powerful end result, for example – crafting a ring design that works to visually lengthen a woman’s finger. This articulate designer also gleams inspiration from art and nature… Once when going to St. Barth’s and seeing the ocean, he created St. Barth’s Blue collection (turquoise and white topaz doublet).

Each beautiful piece of Dove’s jewelry is hand crafted for durability and lasting beauty. After the designer sketches a design with pencil and paper, he casts pieces in either a New York or China workshop, and he is the immediate supervisor of the entire process from draft to fruition. Each piece is hand-stamped with the Dove which symbolizes peace and new beginnings (this gained root from his parents coming as refugees from the Middle East). This gifted designer has created pieces from J Lo and even the First Lady, Michelle Obama.

The Doves brand is crafted using the highest quality of products such as 18k gold, precious gemstones, and diamonds with superior clarity and color. There is even a training guide which describes what each stone is and where the inspiration originates and what each piece is meant to promote. Many pieces of Doves jewelry promote healthy, prosperity, and peace. This global luxury is oftentimes showcased along the stretch of the Red Carpet and it can be found right in our showroom.
