The #1 Fall Fashion Accessory: Brooches!

 Introducing... Hearts on Fire Diamonds:
Think Pink - Rose Gold:

Rose gold is a unique alloy in that it is partially comprised of the only two elements that are not a silvery color: gold and copper. The most common formulas for 14 karat rose gold is 58% pure gold, 2-10% silver, and 32-40% copper. 18 karat rose gold is usually 75% pure gold, 5% silver, and 20% copper. While the gold content remains the same, the copper content determines the depth of the "rose" color, making it the alloy a light pink to a deep red color. Over time, the color may darken due to the natural tarnishing of the copper. The lower the karat, the deeper the reddish tones may become due to the higher amounts of copper that can be added.

Rose gold, until recently, was predominantly found only in turn of the century Victorian and Black Hills Gold jewelry. Today, it completely revamps an all white gold or yellow gold jewelry wardrobe by adding a touch of the unexpected. It also spices up two-tone pieces, rather than the traditional yellow and white gold mix. Rose gold gives two-tone a whole new dimension: mixed with white gold it creates a cool soft look, mixed with yellow gold it creates a warm glow. Wether you are a platinum, white or yellow gold afficianado, rose gold can be added into the mix to create an updated look to your jewelry wardrobe.

September Birth Stone - Sapphire:

Sapphire is composed of the mineral corundum. The most common color is blue, which is very complimentary to a variety of skin tones. Sapphire is also available in a rainbow of other colors: from pink and green to purple and yellow. When discussing other colors of sapphire the jewelry industry refers to them as "fancy sapphires." Sapphires have a hardness of 9 on the Moh’s scale, second only to diamond. One of the benefits of sapphire is it has no cleavage plane, so it cannot be cut with a single blow like diamond can.
The most prized color of sapphire is a medium intense vivid blue color that shows true in any light source. Much of the more inexpensive sapphire available on the market today is a deep, dark-blue color which shows well under natural lighting but appears a darker almost black color under artificial lighting. In order to improve the color, most sapphire is heated at a very high temperature to help improve color. Australia and Africa are the world’s largest suppliers of sapphires. The oldest mines were located in Ceylon (Sri Lanka).

Often found in engagement rings, sapphires symbolize sincerity and faithfulness. Sapphire is also the birth stone for September, which followed August as the month with the most births last year.
